We specialize in pain management care with a focus on patients who have sustained injuries from motor vehicle accidents. Whether you are suffering from back pain or joint pain, we are here to help. Our team is focused on delivering premiere medical care using the latest in advanced technologies.
Chronic pain is not always caused by compressed nerves or joint problems. Sometimes chronic pain is muscular in nature. When this is the case, trigger point injections may provide much-needed relief.
By injecting medication into focal centers of your pain, knots called trigger points, Dr. Yun can help reduce inflammation and pain. Trigger point injections are often useful for conditions such as fibromyalgia, tension headaches, and muscle strain.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is an advanced treatment that can help repair and regenerate injured soft tissue and reduce pain. Multiple published scientific studies have confirmed the effectiveness of this therapy, and thousands of patients – including professional athletes – have benefited from PRP injections. PRP therapy may be an alternative to surgery. PRP therapy uses your own blood. No donor blood is involved, so the risk of complications is reduced. Platelets are extracted from a sample of your blood, isolated, and concentrated. The concentrated platelets are then injected into your injured area using advanced image guidance. Growth factors in the platelet-rich plasma stimulate healing and regeneration.
Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is one treatment modality that often helps to relieve chronic leg, arm, neck, or back pain. Wires attached to a battery send low-power electrical impulses to areas of your spinal cord. These impulses stimulate areas of the spinal cord that distract the pain signals.
For the appropriate patient, Dr. Yun first preforms a temporary implant of the spinal cord stimulator wires. You will be able to ‘test drive’ the device for several days.
If the temporary implant is successful, Dr. Yun will implant the wires and battery just under your skin.
While SCS will not address the underlying cause of your pain, it can be very helpful in reducing your pain symptoms. SCS is often used when conservative measures or spine surgery have failed to control pain adequately. This treatment may be an alternative to opioid medications and repeat spine surgery.
SCS does not require open back surgery for implantation of the battery and wires. Also, if SCS is unsuccessful, the device can easily be removed with minor surgery.
